When a WiFi dome camera is the right choice

A dome housing is compact and unobtrusive, which suits shops, offices, reception areas, corridors and other places where people notice a large camera. WiFi removes the network cable, so the install is limited to the camera mount and a power supply. It works best where the existing WiFi signal already reaches the mounting point; if it does not, a PoE or 4G model is the better choice for that position.

Connectivity, power and storage

WiFi describes how video travels, not how the camera is powered. The camera needs a DC12V supply at the mounting point, and remote viewing needs a working internet connection. Footage can also be recorded locally to a TF (microSD) card.

Dome, bullet or PTZ?

Choose the dome for discreet indoor and covered positions, the bullet for a fixed outdoor view, and the PTZ when one camera has to cover a wide area by moving. If your site has no dependable broadband, ask about a 4G model instead of WiFi.
